Engineer for the Medical Technology of Tomorrow | Nadja Stümer
Production technologies and innovations are evolving rapidly. This makes it all the more important to have experts who keep an eye on the latest trends and improve or redesign processes accordingly.
One of these experts is Nadja. She is a production engineer at WEINMANN Emergency and is primarily responsible for process validation. In short: She optimizes the assembly processes in order to ensure the safety and functionality of the products.
One for all, all for one
Nadja has now been a member of the production team for two years. However, her start was not entirely straightforward: “I started at the beginning of the Coronavirus pandemic. Because we were working in shifts, which was introduced back then to protect the employees, and working from home, a mutual exchange was more difficult.” Nevertheless, she quickly felt accepted as part of the WEINMANN community: “The togetherness between colleagues is simply fantastic. We mutually support each other and we are very well-positioned, especially in my team. Everyone has their own different strengths and together we complement each other superbly.”
“You have the possibility to change things”
What Nadja most values about her job is the freedom that allows her to develop creative solutions. For example, this gave her time to introduce the room concept of the “clean zone” in our production center in Henstedt-Ulzburg. This measure prevents the impurities that can arise between human and material.
When Nadja is not deeply engrossed in her project work, her day-to-day business is on the agenda. Among other things, this means creating work instructions, implementing changes in the production environment, or procuring new production equipment. “The thing that I particularly like about my job is that I have the possibility to change things. I hold the product in my hand and know that it will save people’s lives. That makes me proud.” However, the combination of work on the product and with people is also important for Nadja: “We communicate with each other a lot at the production center, and the fact that I virtually always have the products next to me helps to make an evaluation.”
Combining a Career and Family
Besides her partner, her young daughter and two dogs are waiting for Nadja when she arrives home from work. For this reason, a good work-life balance is very important to her. “I know that the ability to combine a career and a family so well cannot be taken for granted. I am very grateful to WEINMANN Emergency for that. Because is really works extremely well,” enthuses Nadja. As a result, she has enough time to be there for her daughter and simultaneously pursue a career. And when that does all become too much for her from time to time, she jumps on her motorcycle, flies along off-road routes, and takes a break from everyday life for a few minutes.
