More Flexibility from Turbine Technology

MEDUVENT Standard

Long distances or transport times? No power or oxygen supply?

With a ventilator which maintains ventilation for an average of 8 hours*, even without an external gas supply, you don’t need to worry about the technology. If required, however, the patient can be supplied with additional oxygen at any time via the universally compatible oxygen inlet tube. This allows inspiratory oxygen concentrations of 21 % to 100 % to be achieved - all without the device consuming any itself.

In emergency response, the speed at which therapy can be started is often key for patient outcomes. MEDUVENT Standard has intuitive menu guidance, emergency modes and ventilation start-up based on height - all of which make it easier to use the device to make a straightforward start on ventilation. This ensures that the patient is taken care of as quickly as possible, safely and in line with directives.

Deliver ergonomic, controlled and efficient ventilation with MEDUVENT Standard - without time-consuming and complicated setting of ventilation parameters. Simply enter the patient’s height or use one of the pre-set emergency modes in order to start safe ventilation without delay.

MEDUVENT Standard is one of the smallest, lightest-weight emergency and transport ventilators in its class. The device weighs approx. 2 kg and has a device volume of 3.5 l. As a result, it can fit in emergency vehicles which have little space or which require lightweight equipment.

Manual mode with MEDUtrigger

Trigger mechanical breaths entirely in line with requirements

In cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and in anesthesia induction (RSI: Rapid Sequence Induction), mechanical breaths may need to be administered individually or twice in quick succession. Thanks to MEDUtrigger, MEDUVENT Standard makes this possible, quickly, and ergonomically.

MEDUtrigger is a “remote control” for triggering mechanical breaths on the ventilator. The mechanism is attached directly to the mask or tracheal tube and allows medical staff to trigger one or two consecutive mechanical breaths at the press of a button. The combination of MEDUtrigger and mask accordingly replaces the bag-valve mask in the initial phase of CPR and RSI. The ergonomically-designed trigger button can be operated with a thumb or finger. It is effortlessly easy for the user to reach, even though he or she is simultaneously sealing the mask with both hands.

As a result, MEDUVENT Standard and MEDUtrigger can be used to administer mechanical breaths from a single provider, while a bag-valve mask requires two rescuers to provide ventilation with a proper mask seal.  The patient accordingly benefits from all the safety features of the ventilator, such as ventilation pressure limit, alarm system, and patient monitoring, for example. If a corresponding oxygen source is connected, it is also possible to administer one hundred percent oxygen.

Options

Integrated ventilation modes

  • IPPV (Intermittent Positive Pressure Ventilation): Volume control mandatory ventilation

  • CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure)

  • Manual

Other available modes and functions

  • S-IPPV (Synchronized Intermittent Positive Pressure Ventilation): Assisted volume control ventilation with a trigger time slot of 100 % of expiratory time. For volume control ventilation with variable mandatory minute volume. Provides a mandatory mechanical breath for every attempt at spontaneous breathing.
  • SIMV (Synchronized Intermittent Mandatory Ventilation): Assisted volume control ventilation with a trigger time slot of 20 % of expiratory time.
  • CPAP + PS (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure + Pressure Support) For pressure support if spontaneous breathing is insufficient or exhausted.
  • PRVC + PS (Pressure-Regulated Volume-Controlled Ventilation + Pressure Support) Combines the benefits of pressure and volume-controlled ventilation. Pressure support PS can be used for patients who breathe spontaneously from time to time.

SERVICE

Complete flexibility for oxygen supply

Simply connect and adjust on a flexible basis

So you want to oxygenate your patient with 100 % oxygen and then adapt the dose? Nothing could be easier!

Simply connect the inhalation outlet of the pressure reducer to the oxygen inlet of the MEDUVENT Standard via the oxygen inlet tube, which is compatible with systems all over the world and set the desired flow rate. Use the inspiratory minute volume displayed as a basis for this: At an MVi of 5 l/min, for example, you will achieve an oxygen concentration of 100 % at a flow rate of 5 l/min (assuming you are supplying 100 % oxygen). For a lower oxygen concentration, simply reduce the flow rate. After 30 seconds, you can read off the inspiratory oxygen concentration measured on the display of the MEDUVENT Standard.

As MEDUVENT Standard runs purely on electricity, and not on compressed gas, no oxygen is consumed to run the device. The intelligent, loss-free supply* of oxygen means that every liter benefits the patient and is not wasted in the environment.

No medical-grade oxygen available, but you would still like to supply your patient with over 21 % oxygen? Concentrator oxygen (93 % ± 2 % O2) can do it too. To do this, just change the operating gas and connect the concentrator or the oxygen cylinder to MEDUVENT Standard.

It goes without saying that you can also operate MEDUVENT Standard with ambient air, without any oxygen source at all. The hygiene filter fitted as standard purifies the air used of viruses, bacteria and particles, thus protecting both people and the device from contamination.

MEDUVENT Standard in use

Specially designed for emergency response

Users and patients are the focus

As the device is used in every imaginable location under all kinds of conditions, a high degree of resistance to shock and vibration, together with a high level of protection against penetration by dust and water (IP54), are extremely important. MEDUVENT Standard is tested for use in emergency vehicles in line with all the relevant standards.

Its small size (3.5 l) and light weight (approx. 2 kg) also make the device ideally suited to use in emergency vehicles, helicopters and aircraft. MEDUVENT Standard is one of the smallest turbine-operated ventilators in the world and yet still extremely flexible.

The BASE STATION wall mountings allow it to be securely accommodated in an emergency vehicle and when fitted to one of the portable systems available, the device can easily be taken along to the emergency site. If required, also in combination with a defibrillator with monitoring functions.
The turbine drives makes MEDUVENT Standard extremely flexible in use, as compressed gas cylinders are not required to operate it. If required, it is perfectly easy to supply medical-grade oxygen (100 % O2) or concentrator oxygen (93 % ± 2 % O2) from a variety of oxygen supply systems via the oxygen inlet, which is compatible with systems all over the world. Oxygen flow rate is set at the supply system used so that the patient receives between 21 % and 100 % oxygen.

A comprehensive alarm system, the pressure limit and a PEEP which can be set all ensure safe ventilation which protects the patient’s lungs. The hygiene filter protects both patient and user, as well as the device itself, from contamination by viruses and bacteria.
