Portrait of Katja Hochgräfe

Katja has worked in Clinical Affairs at WEINMANN since 2023. Together with her colleagues, she ensures that WEINMANN’s medical devices are evaluated based on sound scientific evidence. Their work serves as proof that our devices are safe, function reliably, and provide real benefits to patients.

From scientific research to medical technology

Katja’s journey began with her great enthusiasm for science. After graduating from high school, she studied biology, focusing on biotechnology, chemistry, and cell biology. During her academic career, she spent many years conducting research on neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and worked at various universities. After about twelve years in research, she was looking for a new and exciting challenge and eventually made the switch to medical technology.

The importance of scientific evidence for our products

Currently, Katja is primarily focusing on one key question at WEINMANN: do our products serve their intended medical purpose, and can we scientifically prove this? To this end, she researches and analyzes clinical studies and scientific publications related to our devices. The collected data is analyzed, organized, and summarized for various audiences – ranging from regulatory authorities to medical personnel.

Another key responsibility of the Clinical Affairs team is to plan clinical trials in collaboration with physicians. The results of these studies are crucial for the clinical evaluation of our products. They indicate whether a device is safe, how well it performs in practice, and what benefits it offers to patients. In addition, they provide important insights into the further development of our technologies.

What motivates me most is that my work makes a tangible contribution to WEINMANN’s mission: We Simplify Saving Lives.

Katja HochgräfeSenior Clinical Affairs Manager

For Katja, it is precisely the combination of science, technology, and practical application that makes her work so appealing. In Clinical Affairs, she works closely with various departments, such as Risk Management, Development, and Product Management. In this way, scientific findings are incorporated directly into product development. “We work really well as a team here at WEINMANN”, says Katja.

For us, Katja exemplifies the combination of scientific expertise and practical application, and how evidence-based work helps make our products a little better and safer every day.
