WEINMANN at the ERC Congress 2025

From October 23 to 25, 2025, the European Resuscitation Council (ERC) Congress took place in Rotterdam – a highlight for everyone involved in cardiopulmonary resuscitation research in Europe. We were also there again and presented our innovative solutions for ventilation during cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
Highlight of the congress: new ERC guidelines
The European Resuscitation Council deals with cardiopulmonary resuscitation and publishes new and revised guidelines on CPR every five years. In order to further develop these guidelines in emergency medicine, independent expert groups review the latest scientific research findings on cardiopulmonary resuscitation on an annual basis. The ERC Congress is one of the most prestigious events in the field of cardiopulmonary resuscitation in Europe. This is where a range of experts from the field of emergency medicine meet to exchange the latest research findings, cutting-edge technologies, and best practices.
This year, the congress was once again dominated by the publication of the new ERC Guidelines 2025. These Europe-wide guidelines for cardiopulmonary resuscitation are intended to create uniform standards in emergency medicine and thus further increase the chances of survival during cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
The new guidelines are now available on the ERC website. They now emphasize, for example, the clear recommendation of the i-gel over the laryngeal tube when choosing a supraglottic airway. Another change in the new guidelines is the first-time recommendation of specific settings for mechanical ventilation during resuscitation, namely volume-controlled modes, a tidal volume of 6-8 ml/kg, a frequency of 10 breaths per minute and a PEEP between 0 and 5 mbar. The guidelines also emphasize that the highest possible inspiratory oxygen should be administered during CPR. A complete overview of the new ERC guidelines can be found here.
New research on ventilation with CCSV – by and with WEINMANN
We were actively represented at the ERC Congress this year once again. In addition to various abstracts on CCSV from different research groups, the WEINMANN team itself also submitted a scientific abstract in collaboration with medical professionals. This underscores WEINMANN’s close connection to scientific research for the continuous improvement of emergency care. “It was a great opportunity to present the latest findings – particularly regarding CCSV – at the conference and to discuss future research projects with various scientists,” says Vanessa Kühn, Head of Marketing + Clinical Affairs at WEINMANN.
In addition to the scientific contributions, the main focus for our colleagues on site was face-to-face exchanges. The numerous presentations, workshops, and discussion panels at the congress provided us with a valuable opportunity to address current trends and deepen our dialog with users and experts.
